SAINT NICHOLAS NURSERY

PLEASE START READING FROM THE BOTTOM PAGE GOING UP!
Thanks, Krish Rajani.

Goals I initially Started With:
1. I wish to achieve more awareness of this activity by letting the IST Students know what happens in this activity and how it changes a little kid’s life. I want make awareness of how we help the children prepare for Elementary school.

Information for how i met this goal has already been mentioned many times in various places below and Im quite sure you must have already got a sense already based upon all you have read so far upon how i have achieved this goal.

2. Letting the children have a friend where they can talk to regularly as if I’m their family should develop the communication between the children and me more. Creating a good friendship/relationship shows how I am doing the correct thing by bringing a smile upon the children.

Meeting the Learning Outcomes

Every CAS has its own specific goals or learning outcomes to meet. Some of the outcomes, well I feel that we met as a group were:

1) Increased Awareness: This is because many of our members in this service are very confident with themselves and help out a lot. They all have their own skills and abilities and they use their abilities efficiently by helping other members of the service group to help out. Secondly some of the members are very understanding and follow the instructions quite well. As well as if a suggestion upon how to up bring this activity as in to develop it is highly important and thats the best thing about it, since may students do comment on how to do this.

2) Undertaken New Challenges: This is because some students maybe having their first encounter with such young children, so it was a challenge for few of the members to take care of the children as the students themselves have just begin to come to the secondary school. As well as in many cases when a student may not show up and has a specific role other students are quite helpful as they take in the student who was away job.

3) Planned and initiated activities: Planning is something we are good at. It is the key element we love to do as we do not want to have a bad evening with the kids. Im so proud of how this CAS plans and how everyone contributes to each other various ideas and shows initiative and commitment to making it a better community service.

4) Working Collaboratively With Others: In order for the community service, saint nicholas nursery, it is a must to work collaboratively with each other as we can not play a day of educational games or regular games, without students working collaboratively with each other. So the only way out is that we all do work collaboratively with each other. For example my role is to be at the MPH and set up various different games or toys. With that i need assistance to remove the sports equipment, get the keys from the P.E Staff room. Yes i can do all this but i currently am in IB2 and sometimes i cannot guarantee that i will be on time. So with the help of my students, the job gets done, showing the effectiveness of working collaboratively with each other.

5) Shown perseverance and commitment in their activities: Students in this CAS, show perseverance and commitment by attending to the CAS sharp at 2:30 and accepting each others role in dealing with the problems that may arise along the away.

Overall i feel that we have developed a lot since last year. Lots of skills have been developed and being used efficiently in order to help the saint nicholas children have a better, educative and healthier lifestyle.

Reflection

As i first entered this activity, i had initially chose it because i love to help teach children about education by playing games and making them have a good time. MY plan at first was to create a good impression upon my CAS classmates. I wanted to help out as much as i could and let everyone know that if they needed any help they could come to me about anything and everything. So this is what i wanted to do and I did do it. People did become aware about my goodness in this activity and how much i wanted to help out, not for the hours but the for the benefit of making a child smile.

Its a very organized activity you see with our high class IB2 students such as Lewi Lewi or myself (Krish Rajani). We try to make the best of it. We try to help the IST children to understand that they have so much time to do other stuff although they may have lots of work. These kids do deserve the best assistance they can get and if they need playtime then we give them their playtime with the assistance of IST students.

Obviously we met a few problems along the way, but nothings perfect until u have met a few problems and thats how we can become perfect by learning form our mistakes. By evaluating upon the mistakes we infact benefitted as we learnt many new things which can be done next time.

Asking a few members of this community service, i found out about how they felt about this activity, all the feelings or suggestions that they needed to make. One of the members was quiet pleased with what and how we arrange this activity, which was really nice of her. Some were also suggesting opinions to improve, which is completely fine to do. The more suggestions the better we improve. Anyways we are trying to help these children. WE have worked hard and we are in a good school and pay a lot of money to have the best education. So lets give these kids a chance to be the best and to prepare them for school by educative games etc.
